“A song is a gift. To sing is to give a gift.” – Sydney Claire
Sydney’s Songs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created by American jazz singer and recording artist Sydney Claire for the purpose of organizing toy and canned food drives for organizations in need in Louisiana, the birthplace of jazz and Sydney Claire.
Sydney’s personal philosphy is this:
“A song is a gift. An amazing, beautiful gift from above. A song sung by one voice with the intent to inspire goodness is awesome and powerful. But when people in a community come together with the purpose of giving a gift to those in need, the song becomes even more awesome and powerful and unmanifest beauty unfolds.” -Sydney Claire
“I never wanted to receive “fame” or attention with this album. I am just doing what I love, love, love so much! And I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I love with the gift I was given: my voice. But with pursuing my passion comes attention and recognition. So, I decided to change my perspective to this: I can do something very positive for others with the attention I am getting with my music! I can organize a toy and food drive for the Christmas season, my favorite time of the year. For me, December has always meant Christmas and family and happiness. But I realize that for many, this time of the year means stress and hunger. I’ve always loved children and the elderly. Aside from music they have always been my passion. So, I want to do something for them at Christmas time! Hopefully my small effort in organizing Sydney’s Songs will help if even just a little bit. And I believe that every little but helps!” -Sydney Claire
November 14, 2012 PRESS RELEASE:

Make a difference this Holiday Season! Donate a canned good and/or toy between Thanksgiving and Christmas!
The WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY, and HOW of participating:
WHO? Who can participate? YOU can! Yes, you can make a difference. You can just drop off a canned good and/or a toy as an individual or your school, classroom, church, organization, etc. can band together to do this! How awesome what a positive experience!
WHAT? What can you donate? You can donate in-kind gifts in 2 categories: canned goods or toys.
Canned Goods– Please be sure the cans are in date and not dented. You may donate as few or as many as you want. I encurage you to go through your pantry and notice how many canned goods you know you and your family won’t eat. Or, you may, of course, buy new canned goods to donate. Any canned goods in date are appreciated!

WHY? Why give this December 2012? Christmas time should be a joyous season filled with bounty and love. For many in our community, however, this time of the year is a very stressful, sad, and needy time of the year. Many of our community members are hungry. This includes the young and elderly. And many of the children in our area will not know the joy of waking up on Christmas morning and receiving one single toy because his or her parent(s) just don’t have the resources in these hard financial times to buy their child such a luxury.
HOW? How does this work? Just drop off your canned good(s) and/or toy(s) to one of the 3 drop off locations. There are boxes at their entrances ready to receive your gift(s). No receipt will be given, however, and no tax deduction will be gained from these gifts. The joy of knowing you made a difference in the lives of the children and elderly in our community at Christmastime will be your gain!
Many, Many thanks to Blade Studios and Moonbout Studios for partnering with Sydney Claire through her Sydney’s Songs to make a difference in our community. Many, many thanks to KTBS and KSLA for partnering with Blade Studios, Moonbout Studios, and Sydney’s Songs to make this all possible. And, most importantly, many. many thanks to all you in our community who participate and make this all possible!
